Role: UX/UI Designer
Duration: 2 weeks
Tools Used: Figma
Methodologies: User Research, Wireframing, Prototyping, Usability Testing

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The objective was to redesign the Indeed mobile app to improve the user experience for job seekers by integrating visually appealing aesthetics, functional action buttons, and effective filters. The goal was to ensure the design remained cohesive with Indeed’s branding while providing a seamless and intuitive experience.

    • Difficulty in navigating job listings due to lack of intuitive filters.

    • Overwhelming information on job postings leading to user frustration.

    • Challenges in accessing personalized job matches.

RESEARCH & DISCOVERY

User Feedback Collection

  • Methods: Conducted interviews with active job seekers to gather insights on their experiences with the existing Indeed app.

Competitive Analysis

  • Analyzed other job search platforms to identify best practices in user experience and design.

Insights:

  • Competitors offered more streamlined navigation and personalized job recommendations.

  • Effective use of company logos and consistent card designs enhanced readability and trust.

Defining the Problem

Based on the research findings, the primary issues identified were:

  • Inefficient navigation leading to a time-consuming job search process.

  • Lack of personalized job recommendations resulting in irrelevant job listings.

  • Inconsistent design elements causing confusion and reducing user trust.

Indeed

Indeed is a job search engine, that helps job seekers find employment and guides recruiters to find qualified candidates for their open roles.

LOW-FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

  • Brainstormed potential solutions focusing on user-friendly navigation, effective filtering options, and personalized job recommendations.

  • Developed low-fidelity sketches to visualize the layout and functionality of the redesigned app.

UX/UI Goal

CREATING A MORE EFFICIENT design FOR NAVIGATING JOB SEARCHES AND MATCHES TAILORED TO YOUR SKILLS.

  • To address the identified problems, the redesign aimed to:

    • Enhance navigation to allow quick access to relevant job listings.

    • Implement advanced filters to streamline the job search process.

    • Provide personalized job matches tailored to the user’s skills and experience.

    • Ensure design consistency to improve readability and user trust.

RESULT

Solution

Developed a navigation system with advanced filters for precise search results and quick-access features, streamlining JOB APPLICATION DATA AND UPDATES.

  • I spearheaded the initial concept design by identifying flaws in the existing structure and user experience. By maintaining consistency with the company’s aesthetics and values, I ensured the system felt cohesive and inviting.

A/B TESTING

  • Conducted usability testing sessions with a group of job seekers to gather feedback on the redesigned app.

Feedback:

  • Users appreciated the intuitive navigation and personalized job recommendations.

  • Some users suggested adding more filter options to further refine job searches.

Flow 1: The landing page instantly displays job postings, allowing users to browse opportunities effortlessly. A "Matches" section tailors listings based on skills and resume details, ensuring a personalized experience.

The profile page provides a quick, streamlined view of a candidate’s information, including an about section, experience, and education. Unlike LinkedIn, this design focuses on a concise, card-style layout without an activity feed, making it easier for hiring managers to assess candidates at a glance.

Users can seamlessly access messages and filters for refined job searches. Clicking on a profile reveals essential details through simple, intuitive features, optimizing efficiency for both job seekers and employers.
